Well, hello there. And welcome – to Urinetown. Not the place, of course… the musical!

Urinetown the place is a place we’ve all been caught up in at some point in our lives... Passionate cries for change, political uprisings, capitalist greed and the threat of environmental destruction: sound familiar?!

Urinetown is a hilarious send-up of greed, love, revolution (and musicals!), in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.

Set in the not so distant future, a terrible water shortage has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by Urine Good Company, a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. The wealthy can afford to sit pretty on luxurious public lavatories while the poor scrape pennies together to squat in squalor, but for everyone it's a privilege to pee!

With a brutal police force maintaining law and order, it's not a place to get caught short! Risk peeing for free and you will be sent off to a place of no return - the infamous Urinetown. The city needs a revolution and every revolution needs a hero... however unlikely they may be.

This show breaks boundaries and theatrical conventions that not only make us laugh, but force us to face the stark realities of our society that may or may not be staring us in the face...
