Guilty Pleasures

We’re thrilled to announce that part of our summer programme will be a cabaret entitled ‘Guilty Pleasures’. Performed on 27th June at St Anne’s Church Hall, it will feature songs that are cheesy or 'uncool' to like, but everyone (not-so) secretly does: think High School Musical, the Vengaboys, anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber...

Directed by experienced Phoenixer Hayley Cross and musically directed by Rohan Godfrey (currently studying at the Royal College of Music), this show will feature delicious harmonies, unexpected mash-ups, and a sprinkling of audience participation.

Prepare to be surprised and, most importantly, laugh.

Tickets

Tickets will be available soon; in the meantime mark your diary for the evening of 27th June at St Anne’s Church Hall.

Taking part

As ever with Phoenix cabarets, there are no auditions and everyone is welcome to take part.

Generally, anyone who wants a solo can have one (unless we have hundreds of people sign up – but we’d probably still be able to figure that out!), and we’re hoping to feature some small group numbers alongside the usual 4/5 whole-cast songs.

Dancing requirements are minimal (think movement, not dancing), but we will have opportunities for more ‘involved’ dance for those that love to move. So get thinking about those songs that you’d like to perform!

To note - recently, Phoenix’s cabarets have been ‘short-form’ (rehearsed over a couple of days). This time, we return to weekly rehearsals to give everyone a little more time for the material to sink in (and there will be rehearsal materials provided to you in advance).

Rehearsal dates are listed at the bottom of this page, and times and locations will be updated once finalised.

Sign-ups will open in early May, but if you would like to express interest before this, please email us at phoenixplayersamdram@gmail.com.

We can’t wait to sing with you!
